چکیده

Modern speaker verification systems rely on a variety of input sources in making a decision on the validity of an identity claim. The meaning of the evidence these sources produce must be reconciled if robust decisions are to be made. In the case of Conversational Biometrics (CB), for example, this is typically accomplished via the specification of a verification policy implemented as a finite state machine. This paper presents a framework for the analysis of such complex systems guided by a policy finite state machine. The Receiver Operating Curve (ROC) associated with the acoustic speaker recognition task is transformed into a multi-dimensional Receiver OperatingMap (ROM), which results from a probabilistic analysis of the policy state machine. A DCFMap can be similarly generated and we show results indicating that optimization over this surface is an appropriate way to set thresholds.

A Programmable Policy Conversational Bio

Conversational Biometrics combines acoustic speaker verification with conversational knowledge verification to make a more accurate identity decision. To manage the added level of complexity that the multi-modal user recognition approach introduces, this paper proposes the use of verification policies, in the form of Finite State Machines, which can be used to program a policy manager. Once a v...

Ethnomethodology and Conversational Analysis

In a speech community, people utilize their communicative competence which they have acquired from their society as part of their distinctive sociolinguistic identity. They negotiate and share meanings, because they have commonsense knowledge about the world, and have universal practical reasoning. Their commonsense knowledge is embodied in their language. Thus, not only does social life depend...

A Grid-based Neural Network Framework for Multimodal Biometrics

Recent scientific investigations indicate that multimodal biometrics overcome the technical limitations of unimodal biometrics, making them ideally suited for everyday life applications that require a reliable authentication system. Conversational Repairs in Persian Dramatic Discourse: Akbar Radi's Pellekân (The Steps)

The present study is an attempt to investigate conversational repair phenomenon in Persian dramatic discourse and it tries to check the presence of any predominant preference for employing a specific type of repair rather than the others in the context of Persian drama. To reach the aforementioned purpose, Schegloff, Jefferson, and Sacks’s (1977) framework has been adopted and applied to Akbar ...

A New Framework for Hegemonic Analysis of Monetary Policy: The Case of Iran

Monetary policy rule might be helpful to avoid the problem of time inconsistency provided there is a commitment to the rule. The commitment is the ability of a government to bind future policies. However, it doesn’t include intrinsic motivations. Therefore, hegemony, which includes both intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, better solves the problem of  time inconsistency. In this paper, we expl...
